Russell deCarle Trio
More than 35 years after forming the legendary, award-winning Canadian country music band Prairie Oyster, singer, songwriter and musician Russell deCarle struck out on his own with a solo album and tour. The front man of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inducted group will perform at Old Crow House Concerts Sunday Oct 19th.
In 2010 deCarle released Under the Big Big Sky, his first solo project. The album featured original songs penned by deCarle, and he was joined in the recording studio by a veritable whos who of Canadian country and roots musicians. Since the albums release deCarle has been headlining dates across North America, receiving rave reviews from audiences and critics. As a solo artist he has opened for Merle Haggard on his Canadian tour, travelled coast to coast with the Bluebird North Songwriters Tour, and has been featured on the CBCs popular Vinyl Café radio show. Russells is backed up in his Trio by 2 fabulous musicians, Steve Briggs on guitar and Denis Keldie on accordion.
The Ottawa Citizen describes deCarle as a tall, golden-haired gentleman, saying his solo show brought old-time roots music to life in a lively and engaging fashion, as well as impeccable musicianship. deCarle's engagement at Old Crow is the perfect opportunity to enjoy this Canadian musical icon in an intimate and interactive venue.
