A Tribute to Yes: South Side of the Seacoast
DREADNAUGHT, EQUAL TIME, SETH WARNER and FUTURE MEMORYfour bands, one special night, performing the music of quintessential progressive rock band YES.
In the early days of the band, in addition to creating their own complex original music, Yes performed cover versions of songs from The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Richie Havens, and others, reworking the music in their own intricate style.
This tribute show will do something similar with the music of Yes. Each band will interpret Yes's music in very different styles from prog to folk to free jazz. Even if you're not familiar with the music of Yes, this is sure to be an eclectic and exciting night of music.
Prog rockers Dreadnaught, described as "Zappa meets Yes at Willie Nelson's BBQ," have also been called "one of the best-kept secrets of the whole U.S. progressive rock scene" by the Dutch Progressive Rock Page. Regarding the creative improvising group Equal Time, John Book of The Run-Off Groove says "...the intensity has to be heard and experienced to be believed." Rounding out the show's lineup are Portland's superlative Seth Warner, who will bring his unique mixture of folk and blues, and Seacoast area avant-groovers Future Memory with their electric improvisations.
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
