A concert celebrating the life and music of Adrienne Cooper (1946-2011) and honoring the work of Irena Klepfisz, featuring major artists from the international Yiddish and Klezmer community
Dreaming in Yiddish is the name of the influential and inspirational recording made by the late, visionary singer-scholar, Adrienne Cooper (1946-2011) with her colleague, pianist and friend, Joyce Rosenzweig. This concert, the fifth annual event celebrating Adriennes life, will feature Joyce Rosenzweig, Michael Winograd, Frank London, Sarah Mina Gordon, Marilyn Lerner, Daniel Kahn, and others who will perform the entire recording, Dreaming in Yiddish.
This evening will also honor Irena Klepfisztranslator, writer, academic, activist and lesbian/feministwith the fourth annual Dreaming in Yiddish Award. Irenas own poetry will be featured in the concert along with other poems that Adrienne loved.
Tickets: $36 - General Admission $18, for Yiddish New York, Folksbeine and Museum of Jewish Heritage Members Note: This event is free for YNY registrants purchasing 6-day full festival passes.
