Praise and Gratitude: Renaissance to Modern Choral Music
The Lakeville CT-based, national award-winning music organization Crescendo presents a program with music by well-known early composers Palestrina, Pachelbel, Telemann, Vivaldi, and Mendelssohn as well as contemporary composers such as Ola Gjeilo, Javier Farias, and Massachusetts composer John Myers. Two excerpts of Myers work, Paintings in Song: Visions of Norman Rockwell will be performed. These pieces received their world premiere at the Norman Rockwell Museum with Crescendo in June 2016 as a preview to the April 2017 world premiere of Myers entire composition. His work is a celebration of Norman Rockwells Four Freedoms in collaboration with the Museum and Crescendo.
The concert honors Crescendos many years of music-making and its outreach to our tri-state communities. And it serves as a fundraiser for Crescendos participation in the upcoming April 2017 Norman Rockwell celebration.
