LED with Lauren Edson
"A dazzling feat of pyrotechnics!" -Alice Kaderlan, The Seattle Times
We are very excited that the astonishing LED dance/multi-media performance company will be presenting a world premiere, This Way To Egress, in Port Angeles. This multimedia work draws inspiration from how the Boise Zoo was founded. In 1916 a monkey escaped from a circus traveling through Idaho. This monkey was discovered several months later, taken to Boise, and became the founding animal of the Boise Zoo. Using this story as an underlying metaphor for aging, This Way to the Egress will use the circus, desert and zoo as the landscape for a work which unfolds from childhood through old age. Exploring themes of isolation, the degeneration of body, voyeurism, and reflection, the collaborative work will involve artists from several different mediums including choreography, music, video, costume, mask design and photography.
LED has been touring/performing for the past two years. Prior to that Lauren participated in several choreography competitions throughout the country (winning them all) and she also had a company (Lauren Edson Dance) which performed in the NW for about a year prior to LED.
