Night Folk and The Baron Ward
About Night Folk
Night Folk features the songs of Rich Waggs Waggoner (Contemporary Folk / Americana). Richs songs have been described as, blue collar truths. (Doug Spud Henderson). Award winning singer / songwriter Dan Weber says, Rich Waggoner is the Best Damn Songwriter in Portland you've never heard of. His songs are funny, ironic, poetic, political and catchy as hell. It's hard NOT to sing along. Usually I end up thinking 'I wish I'd written that song!' and that's honestly the nicest thing you can ever say to another songwriter." - Dan Weber (Songwriter Finalist Sisters Folk Festival & Kerrville Folk Festival song contests)
Rich has been a student of songwriting for over 40 years. His down to earth style, and background, deliver songs filled (equally) with humor and compassion! Doug Spud Henderson brings a passion for music and the songs of John Prine to the band. Spud loves to share his joy of music and singing with everyone in the room! Piers Munro (harmonica / vocals) is a seasoned and well-respected local player. (He also performs in the duo The Neighbors.) Piers has a keen sense for collaborating on Richs songs which always connect with the audience. As a group they embrace their motto, The music is magic!..indeed it is!!
About The Baron Ward
The Baron Ward is a core duo based out of Portland Oregon, made up of acoustic americana, energetic hooks and sky-high harmonies.
Chris Baron is a well-traveled bard with a wide array of aural weapons and a composed, focused presence. Dors Ward appears unassuming, then quite suddenly comes alive on the stage. He sings like an out-of-control angel, his rich baritone belting from guts for glory. Various backing bands have been put together in the past. Today, the raging acoustic Duo is all the rage.
