Interviewd by Margi Lenga Kahn, Food Columnist & Culinary Educator
LLOYD HANDWERKER
Starting with just five feet of counter space on Coney Islands undeveloped boardwalk, Nathan Handwerker opened Nathans Famous, a business that quickly spanned the globe, launching the hot dog as an American food staple and Nathan himself to national fame. Lloyd Handwerker, grandson of Nathan, had access to hundreds of valuable resources to retell his familys story in this book, and to direct the 2014 documentary, Famous Nathan. Some clips from the film will accompany this interview. Samples will be served! Sponsored by Kuhn Foundation
