Greg Milner
Interviewed by Christian Greer, Saint Louis Science Center
Milners new book, Pinpoint, tells the story of GPS, a scientific marvel that guides us across town, helps planes land, predicts weather, grows our food, and more. While GPS has brought us breathtaking advances, the use and potential misuse of GPS data by government and corporations raises disturbing questions about ethics and privacy. Furthermore, a single GPS timing flaw, whether accidental or malicious, could bring down the electrical grid, hijack drones, or halt the world financial system. Milners previous book, Perfecting Sound Forever, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
