BAZA: CD Release Concert

Simple Gifts loves the Blues, and their season would not be complete without this flavor. BAZA brings their traditional Delta and Piedmont blues stylings to the stage for your true listening pleasure. Join us for this very special CD release concert.
New Hampshire based, Baza carries on the tradition of the harmonica and guitar blues duo. Their shows are packed with a wide repertoire of songs, stories and folklore of Delta and Piedmont style blues and its players from the 1920s - 1940s as well as some tasty originals penned by Doug Philbrook. BAZA has performed at a variety of venues throughout the Northeast from radio stations, concert stages, clubs, basements, backyard BBQs, house parties, colleges, and front porches.
Baza is Doug Philbrook on guitar, vocals and foot percussion with Geof Goody Goodell on harmonica and vocals. Doug proudly plays National Reso-phonic guitars and employs a variety of blues tunings, picking and bottleneck styles. His vocal style has been described by Metronome Magazine as "emotive and powerful." Geof's harmonica style is melodic, rhythmic, uplifting and at times down right dirty. His vocals are classic blues and his harmonies are "spot on."
Together they conjure the sounds of the "deep blues" with blues harp wailing and driving steel guitar rhythms.
Guests attending Simple Gifts Coffee House performances are invited to bring their own beer or wine to enjoy at the concerts. Coffee, tea, and a variety of baked goods are available at each show.
