Rapture, Blister, Burn
StageBuddy raves: "Tongue in Cheek's revival brings an excellent perspective on the story through its nuanced and hilarious performances... creating a profound and profoundly funny must-see play."
Hailed as "genius" by Variety, playwright Gina Gionfriddo's comedy tackles turning forty and confronting the life not lived in what The New York Times called an "intensely smart and immensely funny" new play.
Three generations of women share their raucous and refreshing approaches to navigating work, love and family. Rock star academic Catherine (Tracilyn Jones) envies her friend Gwen (Jake Lipman) who is often frustrated by her domestic responsibilities and unambitious husband Don (Patrick Daniel Smith).
Meanwhile, cheeky college student Avery (Brittany Anikka Liu) wonders whether she has more in common with Catherine's aging mother Alice (Rochelle Slovin) than any of today's modern feminists.
This 2013 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama takes a sharp look at how women, and men, find happiness and conquer disappointment.
"Intensely smart and immensely funny, with sharp-witted dialogue." The New York Times
"Roaringly funny, piercingly sharp, and bittersweet." The Associated Press
"Sharp-eyed and big hearted! A shrewd, incisive, thoroughly winning comedy!" The Boston Globe
