Sherrie Wolf and Friends A CD Release to benefit Artichoke Music
About Sherrie Wolf

born and raised in Portland, has been performing her songs and unique interpretations of folk and popular standards through out Oregon, on stages such as Lake Theater Cafe in Lake Oswego, Cannon Beach city park, Hoffman Art Center in Manzanita, Portland Folk Society, Portland Art Museum, Laura Russo Gallery and Jeffrey Thomas Gallery. Sherrie is prominently known nationally as a painter and visual artist. Her long interest in voice and guitar lead her to songwriting and performing after her daughter Sarah left home for college. Her music passion began as a teen with Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. It has been revived in recent years by guitar lessons with Lauren Sheehan, voice study with Linda Brice and Laura Moya, and many other opportunities including instruction from Anne Weiss, Matt Meghan, Adrian Martin and Richard Colombo plus performances at Café Artichoke.

About the New CD

Sherrie Wolf celebrates her new music project Keeper of the Songs which was produced and engineered at Medicine Whistle Studio by Dan Rhiger. Sherrie is grateful to the many musicians for their accompaniment on the project. Voice and mouth trumpet by her daughter Sarah Wolf; bass, banjo, mandolin and guitar by Dan Rhiger; bass by Ben Rhiger; electric guitar by Adrian Martin; harmonica and clarinet by John Richter; ukulele and guitar by Richard Colombo; and cello by Tim Scott. Song arrangements, guitar and vocals by Sherrie Wolf.

Keeper of the Songs is based on a traditional Appalachian ballad, Cold Mountain, which recalls the awakening from a dream. Sherrie's brother Daryl was always the "keeper of the songs." His vast pop record collection defined his and Sherrie's youth growing up in the 60s and 70s. Daryl died in 1992 of AIDS.
