Jack Motley Showcase with Matt Thigpen and Gordon Barth
How about this ... Notable, local singer-songwriter, Jack Motley, connected with me a while back and asked what I thought about having him, Matt Thigpen & Gordon Barth sometime? Before my next breath I said, "when can you do it?" Whether you hear Jack once or a hundred times, you never get the same show twice. I have had the pleasure of seeing him a few times, and have thoroughly enjoyed his shows, every time! So, it was pretty much a "no-brainer" for me when he proposed presenting this trio. There is no doubt that this will be an evening filled with some mighty fine music and clever lyrics. Hearing Jack's "I'm In Treatment," "Shiner Blonde" and "Sleeping Between Edna and Louise" alone are well worth the price of admission ... everything else is pure bonus! While I haven't had the opportunity to personally hear Matt or Gordon, they come with Jack's stamp of approval, so I am resting securely that they will be bringing some excellent musical offerings as well. Mark your calendars now because you don't want to miss this awesome showcase on Saturday July 21st. JACK MOTLEY has been writing his excellent homespun music and entertaining both locally and throughout Texas for many years. His love and enthusiasm for music is evident in everything he writes and performs. You will thoroughly enjoy his epic stories and his easy listening music, and you will be left wanting more! MATT THIGPEN - A native Texan born in Waco, Matt Thigpen has always lived inside Texas' borders, and says he always will. While growing up in Sugarland, Texas Matt was constantly exposed to the sounds of Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and later on, George Strait. "I believe I subconsciously developed my vocal style early on mainly from listening to those four artists," says Thigpen. "I could usually sing through any of their songs after only hearing them a couple of times. It all came very naturally to me." His original song, "Old Outlaws Never Die", can attest to this. "In my mind, those artists will always be the best, that's what I cut my teeth on," he says. GORDON BARTH - Don't know much about this elusive Texas Troubador, but if Jack Motley and Matt Thigpen both want him on stage with them, then he's gotta be good. Looking forward to getting to know Gordon and listening to his music! MENU: Chicken Fried Steak - Twice Baked Potatoes - Green Beans - Tossed Salad - Roll - Dessert (Chef's Choice) Served with Iced Tea or Water
