Emy Tseng at the Casa Phoenix, 7 pm Sept 30
Jazz vocalist Emy Tseng returns to DC to sing with her longtime collaborator guitarist Matvei Sigalov for an intimate house concert in Logan Circle. A delicious vegetarian dinner and a drink are included.
Noted for her incisive interpretations and elegant voice, Emy showcases a fusion of Brazilian and jazz genres. Emy and Matvei collaborated on her nationally acclaimed debut album "Sonho" ("Dream" in Portuguese). The Washington Post says that Emy has "...fine rhythm, impressive grasp of harmony and a clear, attractive voice..." and "channeled the Brazilian musical spirit".
Emy and Matvei will play bossa nova and samba plus selections from their latest collaboration, Emy's upcoming album "Love Fool", a collection of eclectic arrangements of 80s and 90s pop hits.
Doors will open at 7, for dinner and drinks (the host, Susan Benesch, will provide sangria. Bring anything else you'd like to drink. Music starts at 8.
