Fall Fermentation workshop with 21 Acres
Slow Food Seattle is a proud educational partner of 21 Acres in Woodinville. This October, we invite you to join us as we go 'Krazy for Kraut.'

Join culinary instructor, Rebecca Sornson and naturopathic doctor, Paul Despres, in this hands-on exploration of fermented fall vegetables. This dynamic duo will teach guests the basics for making traditional sauerkraut, kimchi, and other pickled delights. Prepare to learn, play, and get inspired! Light fermented fare will be available for tasting. Guests will build their own ferments to take home. Vegetarian with optional wheat, dairy.

About our educators

Instructor Rebecca Sornson:  With a deep rooted passion for traditional and culturally significant culinary arts, Rebecca is fascinated by the healing properties of whole foods as well. After completing her bachelor's degree at Bastyr University, Rebecca went on to work as an organic farmer and farm-to-table culinary instructor in Maine and Michigan. Inspired by the forces of edible nature, Rebecca decided to return to Bastyr to complete a naturopathic doctoral degree. These days when she's not filling her mind with disease processes and treatments, Rebecca loves teaching at 21 Acres. In her mind there's really nothing better than cooking great food with curious, passionate people.

Registration is required in advance for culinary programs. All proceeds benefit educational programming at 21 Acres and initiatives related to accelerating social change toward more sustainable ways of growing, eating and living that protect the environment while supporting a better quality of life.

PS -Come early for the free, hour-long farm tour from 11 AM -noon, and make a day of it. Reservations for the twice monthly farm tours  every 2nd and 4th Saturday  are not required. Just check in at the 21 Acres Farm Lobby when you arrive.
