Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra Presents - Concerts for All
Multiple studies have shown that classical music has an incredibly positive effect on children, particularly those who are cognitively diverse. The traditional concert setting can be an intimidating environment, especially for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert of classical works tailored for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder or sensory sensitivities. Special considerations for this concert include consults with specialists in the ASD field in the development of beneficial programming for children with sensory sensitivities, providing a room for families to take breaks from the concert as needed, and an instrument "petting zoo". Families will also be encouraged to bring something from home that is soothing for their child and offered a pre-listening guide to help prepare for the concert. This will be the first concert of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, and free for children 18 years old and younger. Ticket vouchers are available for families in need.
Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra will perform... Beethoven - Symphony No. 5, First Movement Grieg - Peer Gynt: Morning Mood Rossini - Overture to "Barber of Seville" J. Strauss - Waltz "On the Beautiful Blue Danube" Brahms - Hungarian Dances 5 and 6 Humperdink - Hansel und Gretel, Vorspiel Suppe - Light Cavalry
