Crying Earth Rise Up
"Water is our first home. Water is our first medicine. Without water, there is no life." -Debra White Plume (Oglala Lakota)

A Lakota mother studying geology seeks the source of the water contamination that may have caused her daughter's critical health problems. Meanwhile, a Lakota grandmother fights the regional expansion of uranium mining. Crying Earth Rise Up exposes the cost of uranium mining and its impact on Great Plains drinking water.

Indigenous communities face increased pressure across our Mother Earth as fossil fuel extractive industries continue to mine, frack, transport and pollute on and close to tribal lands. Closer to home, NW tribes face ocean acidification, depleting resources, refineries, oil and coal trains and shipping terminals.

What does environmental justice mean for Indigenous communities and why is it important in my life? Join us for a film screening of "Crying Earth Rise Up", a documentary film, discussion and reception.

This is a fundraising event for Na'ah Illahee Fund's Ahdanehi Women's Giving Circle.
