The You Show: A Solo Performance Intensive
Are you an actor or a comedian yearning for your 15 minutes of fame? A solo-show could help launch your career and get you the attention that you deserve. It worked for Whoopi Goldberg and Spaulding Gray! In this two-night intensive, award-winning performer, Ann Randolph will show you how to turn your life's trials and tribulations into a hit one-person show! Her fun theatrical and writing exercises will help you generate a lot of powerful material quickly, figure out what your show is really about, and why your audience should care. She'll even give you customized improv exercises to help you delve deeper and craft a compelling, emotionally honest performance. Ann will also share her secrets for getting your show produced. By the end of this class, you'll have a completed a section of a stellar solo-show and you will have the chance to perform it at Writing Pad! It really won't be long your audience is laughing, crying and shouting, "Bravo!" just for you!
Note: Class includes new improv and writing exercises appropriate for any stage of a one-person show. We recommend that you bring a recording device to class.

About Ann Randolph: Ann Randolph is an award-winning writer/performer. Her Ovation Award winning solo show, "Squeeze Box" was produced Off Broadway by Mel Brooks and the late Anne Bancroft and also won "Best Solo Show of 2002" from the LA Weekly. She won "Best Solo Performer 2011" from the LA Times and "Best Solo Performer in San Francisco 2010" from the San Francisco Examiner for her current solo show, "Loveland". Her solo show, "Miss America" also won "Best Solo Show of 1998" by the LA Weekly. Her personal essays have been featured on NPR, BBC, and PBS. In addition to writing for the stage, Ann has been hired by Brooksfilms (Mel Brooks's Production Company) to create an original movie based on her play, "Squeeze Box". She has also created original programming for Gullane Pictures, PAX, Lifetime, and Klasky Csupo. She was a member of the Groundlings and Unsafe Sketch receiving LA Weekly's "Best Female Comedy Performer" award. She teaches and tours throughout the United States.
