The term "impact investing" was identified just over 10 years ago, yet socially and environmentally conscious investing has been around for decades. What is behind this new wave of interest and how do these impact investment funds differ from other investment vehicles? Come learn about the ecosystem of impact investing and whether having an investor focused on impact may be a good fit for your company. In particular, the lunch will cover:
-Different types of impact investors and double bottom line return spectrums -Investment criteria similarities and differences compared to traditional investing -Challenges and opportunities when taking in capital from impact investors
Tina is an active volunteer for Bethesda Green and a recent participant in the Bethesda Green Incubator Subcommittee. She currently works for Omidyar Network, a philanthropic investment firm, in the investments team focused on grants and equity to social enterprises working towards improved property rights in emerging markets. Prior to joining Omidyar Network, Tina was a loan officer and then underwriting officer at Calvert Foundation, focused on community development finance and affordable housing organizations in the US and social enterprises internationally. She began her career at Deutsche Bank as an analyst for Debt Capital Markets and then as an associate for Equity Research. Tina received an MBA from the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business and a BA in economics from Harvard University.
