WSU Extension Fall 'Growing Groceries'
Interested in learning about growing fall and winter vegetables? WSU Extension Master Gardeners are presenting a second round of Growing Groceries classes for the community. Class participants will learn what vegetables grow here in the winter, soil building, best autumn and winter cultivation practices, harvest preservation, garden planning, record keeping and more. Classes will also present useful information on cold season vegetable growing techniques, including cloches, row covers, cold frames and hoop houses.
Classes will take place on six Friday evenings (6-9 pm) in classroom, one movie night and three Saturday afternoons (1-4 pm) for field trips and hands-on practice, September 16th through Oct 21st at the Marina Room in Port Townsend. Class size is limited so participants need to sign up early. Applications are being accepted through September 9th. Cost is $50 and scholarships are available.
