Coriolanus
One of Shakespeares lesser-known tragedies feels shockingly familiar and gets straight to the point: violence is destructive, and inaction is deadly. Romes military is stretched thin abroad while self-serving politicians ignore the famine tearing through the lower class. Returned war hero Caius Martius Coriolanus is called forth to speak for the people in the political arena, but his harsh rhetoric and disgust for the lower class make quick work of their trust in him. Tensions between ruler and ruled explode into chaos, leaving Rome ripe for the taking.
