Cannabis and Liquor in Washington State - A Look at the Economic Impact & More (IMA Mt. Rainier Chapter - October Presentation)
The IMA is pleased to present Rick Garza as our speaker on October 19. Rick is the Agency Director for the Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board, where he leads the day-to-day operations of the Agency. He has been in this role since 2013, but has been with the Board since 1997, most recently as Deputy Director, where he led the Agencys policy legislation and media relations, and served as the legislative and tribal liaison. Rick is a Past President of the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators (NCSLA), which consists of both private and state-controlled alcohol retail and distribution systems representing several states. Prior to joining the Liquor Control Board, Rick served 13 years as a staff member for the Washington State Legislature, including five years with the Washington State Senate and eight years with the state House. His legislative assignments included policy analyst in the state Senate, House of Representatives staff director, and adviser to House and Senate leadership. Rick will speak about the economic impact of liquor/cannabis in Washington State, the tax structure, challenges, changes in the industry over the years, and the future. 1.5 hours CPE
Parking at LaQuinta is free and the location is easily accessible off I-5 in Tacoma (exit 135 from either direction). This is open to everyone, IMA membership is not required, and new faces are always welcome.
