The Cadleys with Dan Duggan and Peggy Lynn
John and Cathy Cadley are one of the areas most entertaining and popular duos. Following in the tradition of great male-female duets like Ian & Sylvia and Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons, they show how the simplicity of two voices and two acoustic instruments can produce powerful music.
Their repertoire draws on the traditional bluegrass of Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers, the tight harmonies of the Louvin Brothers, the new acoustic sounds of Alison Krauss and Claire Lynch, and Johns own originals, which have been recorded by national bluegrass artists such as Tony Trischka, Jim Hurst, Missy Raines, and Lou Reid, who, with Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs singing harmony, took Johns song, Time, to the #1 spot on the national bluegrass charts for three consecutive months. Cathys resume is equally impressive, including 23 years leading a church and gospel group in her hometown of Fayetteville, NY.
Dan Duggan and Peggy Lynn are celebrating ten years of marriage and fifteen years of performing together. With a newly released album titled Esperance, named for their farm in Red Creek, NY, they showcase a few of their favorite genres: distinctive original songs, acoustic jazz standards, and instrumentals, both poignant and driving.
Dan Duggan is known nationally for his wizardry on hammered dulcimer and flat-picking guitar, and is the recipient of the National Hammered Dulcimer Championship. He is a true multi-instrumentalist, equally at home on guitar, slide guitar, piano, banjo and his signature hammered dulcimer. Adding to his extensive array of recordings {18}, Dan has recently released an album of original tunes called For the Love of Friends. He and Peggy have released two trio albums with Dan Berggren, the more recent titled Jamcrackers, and as a duo have released three previous recordings: Keeping Christmas, A Stitch in Time, and Be the Light. Peggy Lynn is recognized for her soulful songwriting and extraordinary vocal versatility. She is known for ballads of strong women, childrens songs about nature, and bluesy songs of life and love. Peggys work is grounded in traditional instrumental and vocal styles, but exhibiting a critical and philosophical perspective. Dan and Peggy combine original and traditional songs and tunes with masterful harmonies and inventive arrangements. On stage, their enthusiasm and humor charm audiences. The couples gift of insight is matched with dynamic songwriting and instrumental virtuosity.
