Diabolus In Musica

Our 2016-17 season begins with a shriek, a roar and a bellow as we celebrate All Hallows Eve and the haunting music that makes our skin crawl.

Including live performance of classical pieces by Saint-Saëns, Grieg, Orff, and Bach. Film music by Bernard Herman and John Williams. Plus a few Canvas originals.

And if all that werent terrifying enough, Canvas founder Lynn Hutchinson will introduce you to a musical element that was at one point banned by the Roman Catholic Church on account of it being diabolus in musica (the devil in music). Shell also explain the basics of why certain music gives listeners the creeps.

Dont let the font fool you - This show is appropriate for ages five to eternity. Program will be 70 minutes long with no intermissions. There is easy access to a bathroom.

Time to dust off your Frankenstein mask - Thats right! This is a costume affair for all. For every attendee wearing a costume, Canvas will donate $3 of his/her ticket price to HOLAs Music Department.
