Share this event:

Wednesday || October 12, 2016 from 7:30-9:30pm @ 12th Ave Arts

Participants should be computer literate and be able to bring:

-A Wi-Fi-capable laptop with an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Safari, or Firefox).
-Advanced preparation of your own content. After you register, we'll send a worksheet to get you started.

In this 2-hour workshop, you will create a portfolio-based website that is simple to customize and easy to update! Artist and media professional Ryan Feddersen will walk you through the creation of a website using Squarespace, covering the basics and making room for personalization while you follow along. You will leave the workshop with a custom website with pages for standard content including a gallery, a news feed, and artist information. Websites will be mobile-friendly and will link with social media. There will even be an opportunity to purchase hosting or domain services from Squarespace directly!

This class is formatted for artists with little or no experience with web design who wish to create a straightforward and attractive website showcasing their work.

Instructor:

Ryan Elizabeth Feddersen, (b.1984) Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (Okanogan / Arrow Lakes) is a mixed-media installation artist residing in Seattle, WA. Ryan creates interactive and immersive works that invite the viewer to engage creatively. Her work investigates ways of creating content through the connotative properties of materials paired with imagery and action. She draws on the indigenous traditions of performance, communal / experiential practice, and civic functionality.  Ryan views art as a way that we orient ourselves within culture and society. Through this lens, she creates work that invites the audience to personally investigate their relationship to contemporary American culture. Ryans professional background includes ten years of arts administration at Cornish College of the Arts, 4Culture, and for individual artists. She specialized in processes using computer technology, while supporting digital communication and portfolio presentation.
