Exodus To Jazz: The Tom Harrell Quartet
Tom Harrell is one of the most creative instrumentalists /composers on today's music scene. A Grammy award nominee Harrell, is a frequent award winner in Down Beat and Jazz Times polls. Numerous Trumpeter of the Year nominations have landed him a solid position at the pentacle of today's jazz scene, both as player and composer.
Harrell has worked with important icons of jazz including Woody Herman, Dizzie Gillespie, Horace Silver, Bill Evans, Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Phil Woods, and Charlie Haden and with prominent contemporaries including Joe Lovano and Charles McPherson.
In addition to his trumpet and flugelhorn, Tom Harrell's unique combo for his Exodus To Jazz engagement includes Mark Turner on tenor sax, Adam Cruz on drums and Ugonna Okegwo, his bassist of 13 years.
Harrell's warm sound on trumpet and flugelhorn, and the unparalleled harmonic and rhythmic sophistication of his compositions, will enthrall listeners in the acoustically perfect Performance Hall of the Hochstein School of Music.
