Workshop description:
Artist Consultant Miriam Works will guide artists through their elevator speech and written statements so they know how to talk and write about themselves and their artwork.
Instructor: Miriam Works
Born and raised in Seattle, WA, Miriam Works graduated cum laude from the University of Washington in Studio Art with a concentration in Art Education. As a student teacher, she developed arts programs for a variety of human services organizations, including Community Services for the Blind, Seattle Mental Health Institute, and United Cerebral Palsy Center. For almost twenty years, she was buyer/manager for the Folk Art Gallery/La Tienda and assistant director/exhibitions manager for FireWorks, a nationally recognized crafts gallery.
She has served on the Gallery Committee for Pratt Fine Arts Center, the Steering Committee for the Northwest Designer Craftsmen "Living Treasures" video project and as a juror for many organizations, including the Bellevue Arts Fair, Folklife Festival and Washington Potters Association.
Miriam has presented business and marketing lectures for numerous artists organizations, including the African American Photographers Guild, American Association of Botanical Artists, International Society of Glass Beadmakers, Regional Arts and Culture Council, Tacoma Arts Commission and Women Painters of Washington. She has taught at Pratt Fine Arts Center, North Seattle Community College, Oregon College of Art and Craft and Pacific Northwest College of Art. Since 1993, Miriam has consulted on business and marketing issues with creatively driven individuals, businesses and organizations.
