2016 Detroit Fringe Forward Fest Thursday Night shows and Opening Night Party
Detroit Fringe Forward Festival is proud to announce its 2016 lineup, which includes 10 new plays and performances staged over four days. The festival will highlight the work of over 45 Michigan artists and 9 Michigan writers. Continuing the momentum from 2015, the festival will continue to explore new works and celebrate connections made through the performing arts.
The line-up encompasses a variety of genres from narrative theater to literary-inspired musical performances to avant-garde performance art pieces. Participants will receive a small production stipend to support their work. At the end of the festival a Jurys Choice and Audience Choice award will be given to two performances, who will each receive a fully staged production spot in CMAPs 2016-17 season .
THURSDAY Sept 15 at 8:00pm (doors open at 7:15pm): The Audition by Maureen Paraventi, directed by Rick Holland & Lisa Brawley CAST: Vicki Morgan, Sean Rodriguez, Brian Taylor, Sabrina Hubbard and David Zolotarchuk Anxious for success in the entertainment industry, these auditioners are willing to do what it takes or be who they have to be.
Woman Vs. Internet by Paige Vanzo, directed by Hannah Kelley-Niece CAST : Yesmeen Mikhail, Ann Macheson, Jeff Priskorn, Josh Noori and Steven Davenport Delve into the experiences of women via the internet and the media using real text from chat rooms and forums paired with the humor and absolute absurdity.
Following the shows 9/15/16 is the Detroit Fringe Opening Night Reception with refreshments and artist/industry mingling
