Martha Bourne at Stubblebine Lutherie
Martha Bourne is a Boston-based singer/songwriter originally from North Carolina. Her work grazes the fields of Southern Gothic and Americana. She has opened for many national acts including Widespread Panic, The Samples and The Subdudes. Armed with a degree in Film Scoring from Berklee, her songs and underscore has been in indie films and on major networks and cable channels (CBS, NBC, ABC, HBO, Discovery, History Channel, WE Network, WGBH) for more than a decade. Look for her latest full-length cd, recorded with The Blue Ribbons, to be released in October 2016.
In over 30 years as a professional musician, pianist and Berklee College of Music professor John Funkhouser has shared the stage with countless jazz and pop music luminaries, including saxophone giant Joe Lovano, Esperanza Spalding, Steve Gadd (Paul Simon and James Taylors drummer), Charles Neville, Tierney Sutton, Springsteens drummer Max Weinberg, and piano prodigy Matt Savage. Funkhouser has played on over 70 CD recordings, including four as leader. He has performed at clubs and festivals all over the world, from East Asia to Europe to South Africa, including the Blue Note, Birdland, and Dizzys in New York City, as well as the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Wasphington D.C.s Kennedy Center, the Toulon Jazz Festival, and Boston's Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival. He has appeared on ABCs 20/20, NBCs Today Show, and National Public Radio.
