Historian Jon Meacham in Conversation with Lake Effect's Mitch Teich at Boswell about "Destiny and Power"
Boswell Book Company is pleased to present a ticketed event with Jon Meacham, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his 2008 biography of "Andrew Jackson, American Lion." An executive editor at Random House, he is also the author of The New York Times bestsellers "Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power," "American Gospel," and "Franklin and Winston." Meacham, who teaches at Vanderbilt University and at The University of the South, is a fellow of the Society of American Historians.

This event is at a special date and time of Sunday, November 6, 7 pm. Meacham will be in conversation with Mitch Teich, executive producer and cohost of Lake Effect, which airs on 89.7, WUWM, Wisconsin Public Radio. This event will be taped for future broadcast. If you haven't been to a conversation with Mitch Teich, look forward to a smart, insightful, and entertaining evening.

His new book, "Destiny and Power," now in paperback, is an intimate and detailed life story of George H.W. Bush, a man known only through his politics, or from a distance. From interviews and unprecedented access to Bush's presidential diaries, Meacham brings Bush and the great American family vividly to life, beginning in the Midwest in the late 1800s and on to George H. W. Bush's childhood, his heroic service in World War II, Texas, his political rise. With Meacham's trademark compelling narration, historical depth, and contemporary insight, this stunning biography reveals the unusual self-reflections and distinctive American life of a man from the Greatest Generation who pursued a life of service as a guardian of America in the way of Eisenhower, and was one of the last gentleman in our political world.

Pre-event tickets are $20, including all taxes and Brown Paper Ticket fees, and includes admission to the event and a paperback copy of "Destiny and Power." On the night of the event only, a $13 Boswell gift card will be available in lieu of the book. You can purchase your ticket here, or call Brown Paper Tickets at 800-838-3006. If you have any other ticketing issues, please contact Boswell. Walk-up tickets will be available on the night of the event for $20 plus tax ($21.12), unless we sell out.

This event is cosponsored by WUWM, Milwaukee Public Radio. Our event with Jon Meacham in conversation with Mitch Teich is only two days before the general election. Its the perfect respite from Campaign 2016!
