September 2016 LAI Luncheon
In the context of the super-hot development currently ongoing here in the Bay Area today, there has been a recurrent theme within the conversation about the many changes that have taken place here as a result of our booming economy. Our neighborhoods have become some of the nations most expensive, housing prices are sky high, small local retailers are losing their leases to the highest bidder. In this climate, how can the vibrant artistic community that has played such an important role in our Bay Area cultural life continue to live, work, make art, thrive and contribute here? Our expert panelists, dancer and choreographer Margaret Jenkins (Margaret Jenkins Dance Company), gallery director Trish Bransten (Rena Bransten Gallery) and arts real estate expert Suneetha Venigalla (Community Arts Stabilization Trust) address this critical community issue.
