The Danny Michel "Back to School Special"
Join us for a very special evening of music with Canadian sensation Danny Michel! Proceeds from the show will go directly towards creating a designated space at Hadley Junior High School and Philemon Wright High School for our indigenous students. We want to have a room that is a visible and celebrated home for them within our school so that they feel like a welcomed part of the school community. Our goal is to continue to promote a healthy and peaceful school culture where all students feel like they belong. There are many Danny Michel fans in our community and Danny's music continues to send consistent messages to his fans about living well and living well together. Danny's "Back to School Special" will help to make a difference for our students, staff, and our community as a whole.
With nominations for three JUNO Awards, The Polaris Prize, The CBCs "Heart Of Gold" AND a pile of albums under his belt, Danny Michel is unquestionably one of Canadas finest songwriters. His thoughtful lyrics & earnest performances have earned him a devoted fan base. A musical chameleon, able to slip into many genres with ease. An adventurous & fearless artist. A master at striking the right balance between unpredictability and meeting expectations, leaving you wanting more as soon as its over.
In 2011 Danny relocated to Belize and founded the Danny Michel Ocean Academy Fund to help raise scholarships for small non-profit community high school. To date he's raised over $70,000.00 for the school and volunteers there when he can. He has been praised for his work in the community, and we are honoured to have him perform as part of this school fundraiser.
In 2016, Michel released his newest record "Matadora"; his most deeply humanist album to date. As a whole, the ten- song collection explores themes of individual and collective agency, and wills us to and hope in grief, tolerance in violence, and love in hate. Don't miss an unforgettable evening with this incredible performer and songwriter in support of a good cause.
