The Idaho Jazz Society presents Brent Jensen and Jamie Findlay-- "The Sound of a Dry Martini: Remembering Paul Desmond"
In the spring of 2002, saxophonist Brent Jensen released his debut CD on the Origin Records label, The Sound of a Dry Martini: Remembering Paul Desmond. The project is a tribute to the cool jazz icon that rose to fame in the 1960s as a member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Dry Martini went on to become one of the best selling titles in the Origin catalog. It charted on the National Jazz Top 50 radio charts for over thirteen weeks and selections from the disc reached the #1 spot on the stations of WRTI (Philadelphia, PA), WICN (Worcester, MA) and WUSD (Sioux Falls, SD). Dry Martini was named one of the Top 100 CDs of 2002 by JazzWeek and was selected as one of the Top 25 jazz CDs of 2002 by NPRs JazzWorks.
Jensen will reunite with the guitarist from Dry Martini, Jamie Findlay for a very special presentation of the music from The Sound of a Dry Martini at the Sapphire Room on the evening of Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 7:00pm.
Findlay has played with Frank Sinatra Jr, Seals & Crofts and Red Grammer and has recorded with Buddy Childers, Tierney Sutton, Steve Huffstetter and the Acoustic Jazz Quartet. He has traveled and performed in Europe, South East Asia, Brazil, China, Japan and Central America. Findlay was an instructor at Musicians Institute in Hollywood for many years and has written several books and instructional videos published by Hal Leonard.
Brent & Jamie will be accompanied by bass and drums. For more information on Brent Jensen visit www.bjensenjazz.com
