LA BIZARRE
Kensington Sinfonia's first concert of the 2016-2017 season features Robert Fuchs' glorious Serenade for Strings No. 3, Vivaldi's Sinfonia RV 116, and our own soloist Laura Reid playing Canadian composer Scott Godin's beautiful "Home". We conclude with "La Bizarre", one of Telemann's masterfully written orchestral suites. Telemann brings marvellous inconsistency and rhythmic and harmonic novelty to these beautiful French Baroque dances.

AMICI DELLA MUSICA
We invite our young friends of the Amici String School to join us once again in a side-by-side concert showcasing their energetic and passionate talent. In a program ranging from Bach to Locatelli to Sibelius, you'll delight in the skill, and range of expression of these young artists. The Sinfonia also performs Canadian composer Denis Gougeon's Ballade, and features our good friend Sara Hahn (flute) performing Arthur Foote's beautiful Night Piece.

STORYTELLERS
From the quirky phantasmagoria of George Antheil's Serenade for Strings, to the character-piece movements of Telemann's The Nations Suite, Kensington Sinfonia presents an evocative program of music surrounding characters and storytelling. We include Purcell's wonderful Chaconne from King Arthur, and invite our good friend Jeremy Brown (saxophone) to play Chase the Money by Canadian composer John Oliver. We also unveil the winner of our Student Concerto Competition this year, who will join us on stage for the conclusion of our season.
