Jeremiah Tall w/ The Lawsuits & Nemes
Jeremiah Tall: Inspired by an unwavering love for summers spent in the mountains, along with the tall tales from his youth, Jeremiah Tall is a one-man show based out of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Tall's tales range from the struggles of finding your feet on an ever-changing landscape to fictional stories of cowboys and the common mans battle with the devil. A hand painted suitcase converted into a kick drum provides a backbone to his own throwback spin on folk rock.
The Lawsuits: For years, Philadelphia's The Lawsuits have been known for a sound that cannot be pigeonholed into one genre. There is something to be said about a band that has been creating music together as long as The Lawsuits have. With that longevity comes a sort of comfort and understanding for both themselves, and the listener. "Moon Son", the band's second full length release, and Randm Records debut, showcases years of blending each other's influences and sounds to create something wholly their own. They have spent their music careers up to this point dipping their toes in multiple sounds and styles to create this very identity. With a nostalgic nod to the greats of the past and a dash of modern productions and self-awareness, laced with sweeping harmonies: this is The Lawsuits.
Formed after songwriter Brian Dale Allen Strouse was introduced to vocalist Vanessa Winters & bassist Brendan Cunningham through a mutual friend, The Lawsuits then recruited fellow Temple alum, drummer Josh Friedman. Guitarist Joe Bisirri joined during the making of the groups' first full length, 'Cool Cool Cool', which was produced by Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Man Man). The album's first single, 'Onion', was chosen as #22 of Daytrotter's 300 Best Songs of 2013.
Nemes: Nemes (pronounced kneemiss) has made their mark on the Boston and larger New England music scene by playing everywhere from subway stations to highly-revered rock venues. Led by duel-frontmen Dave Anthony and Josh Knowles, the band showcases a true metamorphosis of sound, featuring warm, layered harmonies and one-of-a-kind violin shredding Vanyaland describes as "fiddle-action glory." These components are delicately layered across captivating original songs to form what Under the Gun Review calls "some of the most engaging music we've heard," garnering shout-outs from national and international acts such as Alt-J and Nirvana.
Released in the fall of 2015, their debut studio full-length album, "I Carry Your Heart," has lifted the band from the subway stations of Boston to larger stages around the region, performing as support for acts such as X Ambassadors and Guster. The album was co-produced and mixed by Rick Kwan (Jim James, My Morning Jacket) and funded by a combination of busking, gigging, and crowd-funding. The 11-track record is an exploration of four minds working to create a resonant, cathartic listening experience.
