Participants will write an ekphrastic story or poem inspired by the exhibition, Paradise Cities: Urban Art in Florida. This outstanding show opens the night of the class, so we get a sneak peek before the public!
The exhibition features the work of female artists in the Sunshine State who incorporate a street art aesthetic into their studio practice. Participants include Hilary White of Gainesville, Joelle Dietrick of Tallahassee, and Jennifer Kosharek, Cecilia Lueza and Sarah Sheppard of St. Pete. This show will coincide with the 2nd annual SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival.
Participants will pick the artwork that most inspires them (no two writers will write about the same piece) and after viewing the work we will go to a classroom above the gallery to flesh out our thoughts/writing.
