Dick Weissman - The Music Never Stops
Dick Weissman is a composer, songwriter, author, and performer. From his early career in the folk music revival as a member of the legendary folk-pop group The Journeymen, he has performed and recorded in a variety of venues in North America, and has written or co-authored twenty two books about American roots music, songwriting, and the music business. This performance celebrates two new projects. His memoir: The Music Never Stops; A Musical Journey with the Unknown, The Forgotten, the Rich and the Famous has just been released by Centerstream Publishing. He also has released a new CD, Night Sky, which features sixteen original compositions for banjo, six and twelve string guitars, and octafone.
His current show weaves stories about the many musicians he has been involved with as a songwriter, musician, or record producer with his own songs and instrumentals. The stories run the gamut from humorous to tragic, and highlight a lifetime pursuing a career as a professional musician.
Dicks own music has been described as like an indie movie in the best sense, while another reviewer referenced his haunting tunes. His songs and instrumentals have been utilized on BBC TV, NBC TV, the Discovery Channel, and in a number of independent movies.
