Volti--San Francisco's award-winning specialists in contemporary vocal music--hosts this celebration of song featuring the high school choirs from its educational outreach program, the Choral Institute for High School Singers. You'll hear brief selections from Volti and from the choirs of Acalanes High School, Head-Royce School, Ecco from Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir, and Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts. These kids are amazing musicians, and this concert promises to be a high-spirited explosion of sound. Each choir sings selections of its own and then all 200 high schoolers and adults together join in a final combined piece, the world premiere of young composer LJ White's "I / We," setting texts culled from videos made by LGBTQ individuals and allies as part of the It Gets Better and Proud 2 Be projects.
