Boston Palestine Film Festival 10th Season Gala Fundraiser
Join us for a gala fundraiser and help sustain BPFF into its 2nd decade!

Keynote Speaker: Dr Suad Amiry
Suad Amiry is a Palestinian architect, cultural heritage specialist, author, and the founder of RIWAQ: Center of Architectural Conservation in Ramallah, Palestine. Her acclaimed memoir Sharon and My Mother-in-Law, which was released by Random House in 2006, has been translated into 18 languages. Since then, she's continued to write about Palestinian life: Nothing to Lose But Your Life, (2010); Menopausal Palestine: Women at the Edge (2010); and her most recent book, Golda Slept Here (2014); which shares the stories of Amiry's friends whose families were expelled from their homes in West Jerusalem.

Dr. Amiry is also on the board of trustees of Birzeit University in Palestine.

Music: The Aliya Cycon Project
The Aliya Cycon Project is inspired by Arabic instruments, melodies, rhythms, and culture, with musicians from six different countries. Cycon uses her highest reverence for the Arabic tradition to expose her style in her compositions and performance, as well as to blend the elements of the musical cultures represented by her band members. Her music aims to salute the Arabic tradition, as well as to step just outside of its rich and colorful borders.

Poetry: Zena Agha
Zena Agha is a Palestinian-Iraqi poet, writer, activist, and public speaker from London. Zena founded and coordinated Warwick University's largest poetry collective Shoot from the Lip, running poetry slams in Leamington Spa and delivering poetry workshops to young people. Zena has performed poetry in London, the Midlands, and Paris. She worked with Operation Black Vote to produce and direct a series of spoken word films and interviews called The Power of Poetry project in 2013. Zena is currently studying Middle Eastern Studies at the Harvard Kennedy School.
