How to Produce Effective Social Change Documentaries and DocuSeries - The Smalls Film Festival 2016
We are living in the golden age of non-fiction storytelling in filmmaking. The roles of journalists and documentary filmmakers are becoming increasingly intertwined. Companies and brands have finally started to embrace the value of doing good, and they are using video platforms to raise awareness around important social issues.
But what does it take to have your cause noticed in a way that can shift awareness, influence behaviour and inspire action? How can you produce a meaningful documentary or docuseries that's marketable and breaks through the noise?
This panel will look at the stories of organisations and filmmakers that have successfully mobilised audiences and discuss how film can be used as a vehicle for social activism.
Panelists: Jessica Edwards (Founder, Hope Street Films), Richard Martin (Brand & Media Realtions Manager, International Medical Corps), Beatrice NĂ Bhroin (Documentary Filmmaker)
Hosted by: Rowan Woods (Development Editor, BBC Films)
