Once On This Island

On a stormy night, a group of villagers tell the story of Ti Moune to a frightened young girl. In the tale, Ti Moune is an orphan saved from a deadly storm like this one by the gods. After a chance meeting, she falls in love with young man from the upper class who returns her affection, but struggles with their difference in class. The legendary story tests whether love or death is stronger and conveys themes of faith, fate, forgiveness, family and the power of love.
