SquawkyFest
The Old Idaho Penitentiary will be hosting the first-ever SquawkyFest on Friday, September 9, 2016 6-10pm (last admission 9pm). "Squawky" was potent, inmate-made alcohol. The event will highlight the history of Boise brewing, inmate brewing stories, prohibition crimes, taste competitions, costume contests, music, and more.
Due to alcohol permitting issues Squawkyfest will only be hosting Powderhaus Brewing on Friday September 9. Powderhaus will feature four of their amazing beers and the evening will still feature all the same fun with costume contests, presentations, and free beer mugs for the first 200 people. We will also reduce the cost of tickets at the door to $12.
If you'd like to participate in the costume contest, prizes will be given based on crowd participation for the best inmate or guard and the best prohibition era costumes.
The BBQ Guy, il Segreto Wood Fired Pizza, Ben & Jerrys, as well as all the participating breweries will have food and drinks available for purchase.
This event is 21+ only (valid I.D. required). Tickets are $10 each if purchased on Brown Paper Tickets. $12 at the door. All proceeds go to funding educational programs and preservation of the Idaho State Historical Society.
