'To Be Two' Playhouse Square Showing
An immersive movement experience constructed by audience with performers, 'To Be Two' considers the tenuous space between where our embodiment ends and all others begin. It mirrors the messy and muddled construction of self in real life and honors the difficult task of being, together. Artist Megan Young extends the considerations of French philosopher, Luce Irigaray, as she explores intimacy in a postdigital age. This new work takes a decidedly personal approach to Young's view of choreography as a form of system design.
We welcome Angela Luem and Meghan Murphy-Sanchez back to Cleveland (from Chicago). Cleveland based artists: Rebecca Burchur, Julia Smith, and Emily Thompson will support the collaborative development of this new work.
'To Be Two' is being developed as part of the LAUNCH performance creation residency program of the Community Engagement & Education Department of Playhouse Square in Cleveland, OH. It will also be presented in the 2016 SPIN OFF series by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events (DCASE).
