Cabaret at the Workshop: Carolyn German
With all the spark, wit, and snap that are hallmarks of her performances, vocalist and composer Carolyn German debuts a clever new cabaret, "SongSplaining! ~ Musical Enlightenment about Love, Politics, & Practical Shoes".
German captures both the hilarious and the humble nuances of the everyday with her unexpected and delightful musical choices. Showcasing her unique song-styling and flair for comedy, "SongSplaining!" includes tunes ranging from bold parodies to tender ballads, and all are impeccably accompanied by vocalist/pianist Megan Santi.
Carolyn German has been a performing-arts professional for over 35 years, having worked as an vocalist, actor, director, lyricist, producer, playwright, composer and guest speaker. Her stage performance credits span from Off-Broadway to regional tours, and include DCs prestigious Studio Theater, and over 25 projects with Tennessee Repertory Theater.
In her intricately-crafted cabaret performances Carolyn blends new material with standards, comedic tour-de-forces and tender ballads. She has brought her vocal artistry to cabarets in a wide variety of venues, from the Millford Plaza in New York City, to cruise ships in the Gulf of Mexico, to the Smithsonians Museum of American History.
