Frankenstein & Dracula:Fox Theatre Film Series
CENTRALIA, WA. - Historic Fox Theatre Restorations is proud to announce the next films in its 2016 Film Series, the 1931 Horror/Science Fiction/Fantasy classics double feature, Frankenstein and Dracula, presented by Stuart & Polly Mackenzie.
Frankenstein - This iconic horror film follows the obsessed scientist Dr. Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) as he attempts to create life by assembling a creature from body parts of the deceased. Aided by his loyal misshapen assistant, Fritz (Dwight Frye), Frankenstein succeeds in animating his monster (Boris Karloff), but, confused and traumatized, it escapes into the countryside and begins to wreak havoc. Frankenstein searches for the elusive being, and eventually must confront his tormented creation. Rated PG.
Dracula - After a harrowing ride through the Carpathian mountains in eastern Europe, Renfield enters castle Dracula to finalize the transferral of Carfax Abbey in London to Count Dracula, who is in actuality a vampire. Renfield is drugged by the eerily hypnotic count, and turned into one of his thralls, protecting him during his sea voyage to London. After sucking the blood and turning the young Lucy Weston into a vampire, Dracula turns his attention to her friend Mina Seward, daughter of Dr. Seward who then calls in a specialist, Dr. Van Helsing, to diagnose the sudden deterioration of Mina's health. Van Helsing, realizing that Dracula is indeed a vampire, tries to prepare Mina's fiance, John Harker, and Dr. Seward for what is to come and the measures that will have to be taken to prevent Mina from becoming one of the undead.
Admission for the movie is $10 per person, $8 for members, and $25 per family (three to four persons). Showtimes on Saturday, October 29, are at 2 & 7 pm, at the Fox Theatre in Historic Downtown Centralia, 123 South Tower Avenue.
