The river has dictated how people have lived here for over hundreds of years and even today there are communities living on the water following this tradition. Come and see the private life of the Thames at Chiswick and Hammersmith, where early settlements are now sleepy backwaters but evidence of their importance can still be spotted.
Industries such as brewing, basketry and fishing can all be traced here, utilising the Thames water. Come and hear of people who lived by the river such as William Morris and Gustav Holst. Look at an island where prehistoric peoples lived (a des-res in the Neolithic period) and other places where Anglo-Saxons set up home. Learn new things about this stretch of the river, the Thames is full of surprises!
Suitable for all ages.
Please ensure you wear sensible foot wear as there are occasional stairs and ramps.
