Brentford is one of those places which is driven through by many but explored by few. It is in fact a gem of a place with a long history of boat building and a facilitator of trading with the rest of the country via the Great Union Canal. Its history as a settlement precedes the founding of London and is well worth exploring!
On this free guided walk, come and see for yourself where people have chosen to live on the Thames, where Caesar may (or may not) have crossed the river, hear what Dickens had to say about the settlement and discover about the collector who took hoarding to a whole new level. All of this and on your doorstep!
Suitable for all ages.
Please ensure you wear sensible foot wear as there are occasional stairs and ramps.
This is a 1.5 mile walk that will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
