Small Acreage Farm Tour - Five Sprouts Farm
Tour a local small acreage farm in Battle Ground, and get stewardship ideas for your property by seeing practices in action. Five Sprouts Farm, a farm and homestead focused on sustainability and permaculture practices since 2011, was recognized by WSU Clark County Extension as a model property for stewardship in 2012. The farm is also home to geese and ducks, in addition to growing vegetables and fruit.
Participants will have the opportunity to see practices to manage runoff and keep clean water clean, perennial edible landscaping, native plants for riparian areas, using animals to control pests, hugelkultur beds for water conservation, composting and much more. Come learn about how the landowners achieved recognition as a model property and how best management practices have been implemented to improve their property and protect natural resources, while saving time and money.
Bring your family & friends and questions you have about your property. Please dress appropriately for the weather, bring a water bottle and wear sturdy boots as we'll be in the field.
The Small Acreage Program, co-sponsored by Washington State University Clark County Extension and Clark County Clean Water Program, will lead the tour with the landowners. The tour runs form 6-8 PM and participants will meet at the property in Battle Ground.
WSU Extension programs are available to all without discrimination. Persons requiring special accommodations should call WSU Clark County Extension at (360) 397-6060 ext. 0 at least two weeks prior to the event.
