BayOp Presents: PAGLIACCI!
Remember 'Lo Speziale,' the Haydn opera with a Breaking Bad twist and supertitles so funny that the packed audiences were in stitches?
Now some of those same producers, returning Director Steve Flavin, Musical Director Paul Zawilski, and Bay Area Opera Collaborative are pleased to bring you... Pagliacci!
Inspired by classic 1980s superhero comics, you will see loose parodies to some of the most notorious comics villains, and perhaps our opinion on how some of these characters became said villains.
Our show will begin with a recital of arias/music from our ensemble. After an intermission, you will see the thrilling story of Nedda caught in a love triangle between her husband Canio and her lover Silvia. Witness the betrayal of the evil clown Tonio, and how poor Beppe is just trying to keep everything together... for the show must go on!
