Moon Viewing Festival -Otsukimi-
For one enchanting evening a year, the Seattle Japanese Garden is magically lit up with lanterns, luminaries, and floating boats on the pond welcoming the arrival of the full moon in Japanese tradition.
Entertainment includes: Instrumental music on the shakuhachi and koto by James Jennings, Marcia Takamura, and Chigusa Kitai. Ethereal cello performance by Gretchen Yanover Evocative flute music by White Swan Records artist Gary Stroutsos. Poetry of the night sky and a haiku writing contest by Haiku Northwest.
Enjoy a special view of the moon with telescopes provided by Seattle Astronomical Society.
Experience a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony at the Shoseian Teahouse, led by Tankokai. There will be three sessions throughout the evening (additional ticket charge applies).
Guests have the option to add a traditional bento dinner to their ticket purchase. This option is available to the first 100 guests.
Rain policy: a limited version of the program will be delivered in case of inclement weather. Tea ceremonies will be held as scheduled. Sorry, no refunds.
