Northwind Arts Center
Port Townsend, WA
Share this event:

September 18, 2016 from 2-5pm @ Northwind Arts Center

Workshop description:

Artist statements and resumes are hard to write, but they are an important way of explaining who you are as an artist. In this workshop, led by painter Stephen Yates, youll look at examples of successful artist statements and resumes from artists of all disciplines and then revise your own. Youll leave with solid drafts of a statement and resume to use when applying for grants and residencies and as part of your website or portfolio.

What to bring:

Please bring in 4 copies of your artist statement and your artist resume to be discussed in class.

Stephen Yates was raised in Idaho and has lived and painted in the Port Townsend area for many years, moving here after receiving degrees in painting from the University of Oregon (BFA) and the University of Kansas (MFA.)  He has an extensive exhibition history, participating in over 130 group exhibits and more than 30 solo exhibits. He has received a number of awards including a Fellowship from Artist Trust, Seattle.  His work is found in numerous collections including Microsoft Corporation, The City of Seattle, The City of Portland, OR., The Governor's Office , Washington State, Olympia, Jefferson County Museum of Art & History, Port Townsend, Van Andel Institute, Grand Rapids, MI.,  Kipton Financial Services, New York, NY.,  Overlake Hospital, Bellevue, Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup and The University of Washington-Cascadia College, Bothell, WA.
